Take off as the sun rises and strokes the tops of trees with its golden glow. From the air, the riverine forests and grassy plains take on a new meaning and the variety of wildlife is astounding: elephant and buffalo, herds of wildebeest, zebra and antelope and, for the sharp-eyed, even lion basking in the early morning sun. An hour or so later you will land on the still-dewy plain for a mouthwatering breakfast. Balloon safaris are operated in the Maasai Mara and Taita Hills in Kenya and the Serengeti in Tanzania.
